Bio

With several years of teaching experience in the Public Schools of North Carolina, as well as being an active musician involved in a numerous of community and church gigs, I have devoted a large portion of my life to helping beginner, intermediate, and advanced singers and pianists learn practical techniques, hone their skills, discover their own unique “skill,” and prepare for the business of being a professional. I greatly enjoy helping musicians of all ages discover their passion for bringing music to life.

I take great pride in offering foundational fundamentals that serves a purpose in all genres of music. Whether 5 or 65 years old, I craft lessons to the specific individual and work diligently on improving your musical skill set through an ongoing assessment. These private musical lessons are highly efficient and provides creative strategies to understanding the desired skill met with the student’s initial goals for singing or playing.

As a music educator, students of all ages are always excited to learn and perform. With a little help from the keyboard, I’m confident that Six Forks Music Studio would be an excellent fit for you or your child.

I have only had a few lessons with TJ thus far, but I can already tell working with him was a great decision. I am taking piano lessons from him and it is very clear he knows his stuff well and he is also very easy to get along with. I had some prior experience playing the piano and I've played guitar for 13 years so I wasn't sure where I was going to start out with these lessons but TJ did a great job of gauging where I was at and really taking my desires into consideration when constructing lessons/pieces to learn. TJ is a phenomenal teacher. I started with absolutely zero knowledge in music theory or piano and he's taught me so much in only 4 piano lessons so far. He can be tough - but always in a very supportive and instructive way. To me, this is one of the biggest pros because it really provides value for the money and time spent. He shows he is invested in YOU as a student and makes sure every lesson is fulfilling.
