Roy has been playing drums and percussion for 20 years. He has studied with amazing drummers and percussionists such as Mike Crusoe (Seattle Symphony) Cindy Blackman (Lenny Kravitz) Chuck Silverman (Afro-Caribbean specialist) Jeff Kathan (Paul Rodgers) Steve Smith (Journey) Mel Brown (Diana Ross) Alan White (Yes) David Garibaldi (Tower of Power) Michael Shrieve (Santana) and Jeff Hamilton (Diana Krall Celine Dion Frank Sinatra Ernestine Anderson). In addition to great drummers and percussionists that Roy has studied with he has also had the chance to work with directors and educators such as Fred Sturm from the Eastman School of Music; Chuck Deardorf from Cornish College of the Arts; Frederick Fennell (legendary composer conductor and founder of Eastman Wind Ensemble); Rob Tapper from Eastern Washington University's music department; Daniel Bukvich from the Lionel Hampton School of Music and Gerard Schwarz musical director of the Seattle Symphony. Performing is a major part of Roy's life and he has been fortunate enough to play music in football stadiums historical buildings and locations amphitheaters and even the Radio City Music Hall in New York. Roy's had the honor of performing with artists such as The Seattle Symphony Denney Goodhew (Etta James Soundgarden) The Saratoga Chamber Orchestra Chuck Mangione Michael W. Smith Alan Parsons Blaine Larsen Julian Priester (Herbie Hancock Duke Ellington Charles Mingus Dave Holland) Richie Cole (Buddy Rich Band) Frederick Fennell 2001 All North West Jazz Honor Band (Director Fred Sturm) Seattle Youth Jazz Ensemble The Boeing Orchestra University of Washington Jazz Band Everett Youth Symphony and Michael Nutt ( Philharmonic). Roy was able to perform in three musicals; Babes in Arms Damn Yankees and Little Shop of Horrors.
He has also had the privilege of being the musical director in charge of music and sound effects for 2 nationally distributed award winning educational high-school videos.
