Rhonda AbouHana attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance. She has been a private voice teacher for fifteen years and was the Director of Upper School Music at Roland Park Country School in BaltimoreMD for twelve years. While at Roland Park Country School Rhonda directed three choral ensembles and taught Music Theory and Music History while maintaining a private voice studio. Rhonda also served as music director vocal coach and conductor for all of the musical theatre productions in the upper school.
In addition to teaching Rhonda has performed in recital opera musical theatre and choral ensembles. She is comfortable teaching all ages ability levels and styles while she has the most experience with adolescent voices. Voice lessons focus on posture and body alignment breathing tone production range diction song interpretation and audition and performance preparation. Many of her private students have performed principle roles in musical theatre productions and have gone on to pursue music and theatre at the conservatory level. Some of the schools that Rhonda's students have attended include Westminster Choir College The Peabody Conservatory of Music Carnegie Mellon and Roosevelt University's Chicago College of the Performing Arts. Rhonda feels strongly that concentrated study of the arts offers so much more than learning an artistic skill. It can serve as a tool to connect within and discover passions and gifts inside- artistic and otherwise. Moreover a focused study of the arts helps to develop the life skills of discipline practice communication presence and poise. Rhonda's ultimate goals for her students are to enjoy singing no matter the ability level and to gain a little more confidence than they had when they started on this journey.
