(Doctors orders, prescriptions, hospital discharge notes as well as case workers notes SLP, OT, PT, RN, LPN, SC BC and SW),entry of progress notes, admissions and discharge notes as well as becoming familiar with the intake procedures (admissions from the physician’s office, or discharging hospital including running Medicare and insurance checks.)
Assistant to Bereavement Coordinator: Assist bereavement coordinator in overseeing the bereaved families that have encountered Heartland Hospice. Prepare for IDT, prepare bereavement cards and events. Keep track of patients and patients families as they enter the bereavement process.

Children’s Hospital Outpatient Facility Cincinnati Base and the Drake Center: Cincinnati, OH (01/04-03/04)
Pediatric: Provide, assist and develop programs for direct supervisor’s case load. Case load consisted of pediatrics ranging from birth to 10. Videoflouroscopic Swallow Studies for pediatrics were performed once per week in which set-up of foods and barium mixes were left to the student to prepare. Notes were taken throughout the study for later use in reports written by the supervisor. Clinic based patients were included in this practicum experience. Language, articulation, feeding, behavioral, autism, dyslexia as well as other disabilities and disorders were addressed. Evaluation, diagnostics, progress notes and reports were generated for patience with supervision. Pediatric: Play group focused on exposure to literacy and learning. Therapy was provided in a group setting over a six week period. Children ages 3-5 with diverse language and speech needs including Fragile X syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as expressive and receptive delay and articulation disorders. Research Assistant: Data entry and interpretation. Transcription of DAT tapes to computer files for both audio files and MRI scans. Perform a variety of duties for a research grant studying different acoustic strategies used by normal speakers of American English to produce the consonants /r/ and /l/. Articulation strategies examined with a variety of techniques including 3-D MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), ultra sound imaging, acoustical modeling and statistical matching techniques.
