Karen Bogardus began studying flute at age nine. As a teenager she attended the Juilliad School's Pre-College Division. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from New England Conservatory and a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University.
A prize winner of the presitgious Myrna Brown competitiona and the Artist's International Competition Ms. Bogardus has appeared as a soloist with the Camarata Universitaria (Mexico) the Symphonic Youth Ensemble of the Children's Orchestra Society the French American Chamber Orchestra and several times with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Aguascalientes. Ms Bogardus' teaching experience includes faculty member of the Tanglewood InstitutePrivate pedagogy and Master Classes at the Primer Festival Internacional de Musica Centro de Estudios Musicales in Aguascalientes Universidad Autonoma de Zacatecas University of North Texas French American Conservatory at Carnegie Hall and the Children's Orchestra Society. Ms. Bogardus has held several orchestra flute positions including the Orquestra Gulbenkina (POrtugal); and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Xalapa the Sinfonieta del ISSSTE the Filarmonica de Queretaro the Orpqesta Sinfonica de Aguascalientes the Filarmonica de Jalisco all in Mexico.
An advocate for chamber music Ms Bogardus performs regularly with pianist Karen Beluso as the group Karen B2. She perfromed with the Dorian Quintet in the summer of 2001.
