I am the Principal Horn of the Houston Ballet Orchestra since 2010, and also a member of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra each summer since 1995. Previously, I was Principal Horn of The Florida Orchestra (Tampa Bay) for 16 years (1992-2008) and Acting Associate Horn of the Utah Symphony 2008-2010.
I teach students at all levels, and have held teaching positions at the University of South Florida (2000-2008) and Florida State University (Visiting Professor, 2008-2009). With few exceptions, my students are working in music today.
I am experienced in orchestral, solo and chamber music performance in all styles and all periods. I am also familliar with the Natural Horn, and perform on a Seraphinoff reproduction of a Parisian Cor-Solo of the 1820s. This is the (valveless) instrument for which Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Brahms wrote!
I can be heard on the following recordings, available (and sample clips) on iTunes and/or Amazon:
Oompah Suite: Sweets for Horn and Tuba with Jay Hunsberger (Summit Records).
Symphonic Dances: Bernstein, Strauss, Ravel with The Florida Orchestra, Jahja Ling (Azica Records). Listen to the "Somewhere" solo of Track 2.
Emmeline by Tobias Picker with The Santa Fe Opera, George Manahan (Albany Records).
Atlas: An Opera in Three Parts by Meridith Monk (ECM New Records).
My main teachers were Dale Clevenger and Norman Schweikert (Chicago Symphony) and Thomas Bacon (Houston Symphony). I have also studied with John Cerminaro, Gail Williams, Philip Myers, Julie Landsman, and the Natural Horn with Richard Seraphinoff.
