Clarinetist Isabel Kim is a founding member of the award-winning Arabesque Winds and has also performed with the Nouveau Classical Project, Rochester City Ballet, Chesapeake Orchestra, New York Chamber Virtuosi, Artemis Ensemble, This Ambitious Orchestra, Hotel Elefant, and Eastman BroadBand. She has appeared at venues around the world including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, DiMenna Center, Symphony Space, Silvestre Revueltas Hall, the National Conservatory of Music of Mexico, Merkin Hall, (le) poisson rouge, Issue Project Room, and Galapagos Art Space, and in the concert series of Sanibel Island, Wooster, Harry Jacobs Music Society, and University of Southern Mississippi. Isabel has also performed at New York’s Fashion Week at the fashion shows of Pamela Love and Project Runway winner Gretchen Jones.
Isabel has recorded with the Eastman Wind Ensemble and the Canadian Brass for their CD entitled "Manhattan Music" (ArkivMusic), and with the Eastman BroadBand in a CD of Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon’s works (Bridge Records) and a CD of Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez's works ("Diaries," Urtext). She has participated in festivals such as the Atlantic Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, Kinhaven Music School, Festival Internacional de Chihuahua, Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato, and the River Concert Series.
With her woodwind quintet, the Arabesque Winds, Isabel won the Grand Prize at the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition at Carnegie Hall, Harvard Musical Association's Arthur Foote Prize, John Celentano Excellence in Chamber Music Award, the Coleman-Saunderson Prize, and 2nd Prize at the Henri Tomasi International Woodwind Quintet Competition in Marseilles, France. The Arabesque Winds are on the roster of the educational organization, Young Audiences, and have been in residence at schools in Florida, Texas, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and New York. They just released their first CD entitled Mosaic.
Isabel holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music and previously attended Juilliard Pre-College and the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College. Former teachers include Jon Manasse, David Sapadin, Richard Shillea, and Alan Kay. Isabel is based in New York City.
