A Mission Statement - My passion in teaching is to teach drummers the comprehensive skills to become consummate musicians and perform at the highest level they desire. My goal for each drum student is to help them develop the skills necessary to excel in any area of music in which they are interested. Whatever your goals in music it will always take a commitment of time and the discipline of regular study to improve and develop as a drummer and musician. My General Teaching Principles & Philosophy - To develop the highest quality of private/class lessons for beginners to advanced level students. Individual lessons plans are designed and tailored to the personal needs & learning styles of the students. Syllabus and instruction materials will vary from my own created texts to popular and time tested drum instruction classics and utilize any & all resources as needed. Student/teacher communications will be focused upon appropriate and effective rapport building skills with students of all ages and backgrounds. Individual student progress will be evaluated regularly and given appropriate feedback to help guide the student to greater personal achievement & satisfaction. Performance and Professional playing experience: I have over 35 years playing & professional performance experience. This background includes works in numerous groups in California and Washington. These represent musically diverse organizations in the playing styles of and such as that listed below: Styles - Rock/ Blues/ Soul/ R&B /Country/ Modern & Contemporary Jazz/ Contemporary Christian/ Jazz Ensemble/ Latin Jazz / Funk & World Fusion/ Symphony Orchestra/ Concert Band / Musical Theatre / Studio recording projects. These are a few of the groups I've performed with in the greater Seattle WA: The Kings of Swing Paul Johnson & Friends(Osama Afifi & Tom Maeda) Greta Matassa w/Critical Mass Big Band The Hal Rose Quartet Tommy Simmons Broadway Bound Children's Theater Seattle Central Jazz Orch.(Dir-Lonnie Mardis) plus numerous freelance performances with other artists music projects church musicals and dozens of musical theater productions. Began playing Drums/Percussion in 1970. Began Drums at age 13 with instructor Hack O?Brien (father of Mouseketeer Cubby O?Brien); continued with Los Angeles Jazz drummer John Perett during college. Private instruction as an adult with renowned Master instructor Freddie Gruber Los Angeles CA; and Freddie?s close colleague - Bruce Becker. Have continued personal development with occasional private lesson/ music workshops in the Seattle WA from 2001 to 2010.
