Elisa Balon received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Eastern Michigan University in 2006 and her Master's degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan in April 2010. As a horn player she has been a member of Dr. Willard Zirk's horn studio participated with the U of M horn studio under Prof. Adam Unsworth and studied under Stacie Mickens. She has performed with various small chamber groups as well as EMU's Symphony Band Wind Symphony and Orchestra U of M's Concert Band and the Ward Church Orchestra. Upon undergraduate graduation she took a teaching position with Concord Montessori & Community School in Mancelona Michigan where she taught a variety of music classes for three years. Her students ranged from the first through twelfth grades and participated in such classes as beginning through high school band choir jazz ensemble percussion ensemble drum circle percussive movement and independent music study. From late 2005-2008 she acted as Conducting Assistant to Kevin Miller and the Metropolitan Youth Symphony. In September of 2009 while beginning her graduate studies at U of M she initiated Studio B and the Providence Park Choir located at Providence Park Hospital in Novi and serves as the Studio's Music & Artistic Director. In 2010 she started work at the Friends School in Detroit as a specials teacher. 2012 saw her spending her summer working on coordinating entertainment for the Great Lakes State Fair as the Daytime Entertainment Director, followed by accepting a new teaching position at Southfield Christian School as their 2-6 Music Teacher. She continues to teach private lessons on the horn, piano, voice and other requested instruments to beginning through early advanced students and has done so since 2000.
