Carolyn Lockhart, bassoonist, performs as second and assistant principal bassoon in Symphony Silicon Valley and Opera San Jose. In addition, she had performed with the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Opera and the San Francisco ballet. She is also a frequent substitute in most of the professional orchestras of the Bay area including Marin Symphony, Modesto Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony and the Oakland East Bay Symphony. She is principal bassoonist with the Mendocino Music Festival, held in Mendocino, CA every July.
Carolyn can be heard on the Delos label performing with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Pilgrim on Earth (produced by Peter Allen), as well as other commercial recordings.
Carolyn has been on faculty at San Jose State University and Santa Clara University . She has been the woodwind coach for the San Jose Youth Orchestra and has taught bassoon at the Berkeley Young Musicians Program. She also teaches privately and has been the mentor of many successful bassoonists. Carolyn loves to teach and is looking forward to working with you!
